Respite Care We Provide

Support may include:

  • Personal care and daily routine support
  • Meal preparation and household assistance
  • Social support and companionship
  • Transport and community participation
  • Medication assistance within the worker’s role
  • Planned daytime or overnight support
  • Short-term support during a carer’s absence

Who Can Access Respite Care?

Respite care may support older people who rely on a family member, friend or other informal carer for regular assistance. Government-funded respite generally requires an aged care assessment, with access based on eligibility, assessed needs and service availability.

Support is tailored to each person’s abilities, preferences and individual goals.

Flexible Short-Term Support

Respite may be provided in the person’s home, in the community or through short-term residential care. The most suitable arrangement depends on the person’s care needs, preferences and approved services.
